watch, listen, react

Riding home from church today, just west of 120th on Blondo bikewalkway. Lots of glass every so often. After one of those smashed glass piles, heard tic-tic-tic. Stopped by the 4th or 5th tic. Turn the bike upside down and checked the tread and look what I found:

Some people suggest running gloved hand over tire while moving to clear glass. Can't do that with fenders, besides creating a great opportunity to slice your hand on a glass or metal shard. I guess in a race it might be worth it? no - not really. I try to be aware of my surroundings and react quickly to the start of strange noices.
