Maskenthine XC Classic representatives

Thanks to the following who represented Bike Masters and supported the Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath MTB Series at Maskenthine:

Donna H. - 1st Cat 1 female
Ryan F. - 2nd Marathon
John H. - 10th Marathon
Craig T. - 1st Cat 3 45+
Jesse H. - 2nd Junior male 13-15

Though Donna and John haven't been able to train like they would like this year, they still rode multiple hours against their fitness levels. Great examples that riding and racing can be had even when one is not up to their desired competitive form.

Ryan raced marathon distance since he and Roxy are going to the Dakota 5-o this weekend. Taking his full suspension Giant Anthem for granted, he raced his Da Vinci hardtail for 3+ hrs and found renewed appreciation for full squish. 8-)

Craig hit the top rung of the podium for the first time this year. Starting off the podium, then being a regular, his first place marks his progression in fitness and riding tactics this year. With two races left, he has locked up the Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series Championship for Cat 3 45+. Congratulations!

Jesse had been first against competition in every race till Maskenthine. Whether for mechanical reasons or just racing against a faster competitor that day, not being first brings it's own set of lessons that can't be learned otherwise. Jesse has also locked up the Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series Championship for Junior male 13-15. Congratulations!

Results

The 7th of 8 Psycowpath races is a week from this Saturday on Sept. 12 at Branched Oak Area 7, northwest of Lincoln. I've heard several new sections have been added to the course. One of the best thing for helping break them in is to have several hundred wheels ride over the tread.

For many good reasons, BMCC attendance has been down this year at Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath races. Even so, I would encourage all of us to take advantage of the last two race opportunities in 09. Racing with riding buddies is much more than one's place in the cat/class. It's participating in a healthy lifestyle in the great outdoors and creating memories with friends and acquaintenances on that remarkable invention - the bicycle.

Hope to see you at Branched Oak and Manawa.
