The April Maskenthine race is rescheduled to this Sunday, June 14.
Junior, Cat 3, and Marathon start at noon.
ss, cat 2 and 1 start at 14:00.
See http://www.nencycling.org/ for uptodate news, trail map, and directions. I think its about a 2 hr drive. I plan to finish my prerace meal and be on the road by 09:00.
For those who haven't been there, Maskenthine is similar in topography to Tranquility. There are pine needle/cone sections that can be soft and pull power. Also with the rain they have received, the ground will probably be a little softer like a spring race. I think its a 6+ mile trail with a reported 600' of climbing, but it doesn't feel like that much. Tranquility has about 400'. I will probably run a 32x21 for the Marathon, a slightly lower gear than Tranquility.
Its worth the trip up there. We use to stop for post race meal at the Wolf's Den in Stanton, but I don't know if its open Sundays.
Enjoy the ride!
