sat road ride 6.28
I think I'm going to put the skinny's back on Mary today, along with the biggest gear I can build, 48x18, (73 gear inches) and ride with the roadies Sat. at 08:30. I haven't been on a group road ride with my fix yet, and it's probably been a year since my last sat. road ride. Looking forward to it!

Had 20+ riders that split into several groups. After our first regrouping, settled in with the C group and made our way out to Fremont into a 15-20mph head/cross wind. Though turning the cranks slower than desired, only had slight soreness on the tops of the knees.
After downing a cheesedog at the gas station, we headed back on 275 with the wind. I was pedaling as fast as I could maintain, guessing 110+ rpm, for the 5 miles to hwy 36 and we were equal with the wind, probably about 20mph. Then slowed down a little b/c of slight crosswind and eventually slowed down a little more. Butt was sore from fast cadence and no hills to stand on. Finally reached Elkhorn river hill and my gearing was fine. Couldn't keep up with the gearies on the downhills back to the wall, which handed out some pain but was doable. On the home stretch, my hams cramped up from so much fast cadence. Took two electrolite tabs when I left home and should have brought some along.
All in all, had a good time but need to build up strength, stamina, and high cadence. For this mostly flat route, I could tolerate a higher gear.
