Prerace Ride at Muskenthine Trail

Doug, Tim, Dan, Bob, Leah, Hannah, and myself are taking a quick up and back trip to Muskentine tomorrow to check out the trail for the August 11 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath race.

Agenda:
6-8:30 - pack, travel, unload
8:30-10:30ish - should give time for 4 laps or so.
10:30ish-1:30 - pack, fastfood stop, travel, unload

We'll set 6 to leave Bike Masters and feel great if gone by 6:10. People bring their own travel food.

Any questions or suggestions, let me know.

I ripped some race/trail info from Jon's email. He's part of Elkhorn Valley Cycling Club hosting the race:

When you get to Maskenthine you want to go into the north entrance. Just inside the north entrance is trail head 1, which is where we started. About .5 miles inside the park at the top of the hill along the road is trail head 2. This will be the start/finish line. We will headquarter the race at the shelter near the boat ramps east of trail head 2 and start the groups there running up the gravel road and into the single track.

The loop goes counter-clockwise and is almost, if not completely, mowed and getting more established. The north half is older and more mature than the south half.

The entire loop is just under 5 miles. I would like your opinion after you ride it but I am thinking 1 lap for juniors and beginners, 3 for sport and 5 for expert. Maybe cutting the sport to 2 laps and expert to 4 might be better, haven’t decided yet.

Here is the trail map.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Have fun!
Jon

Thanks Dale. This was a good idea. Think we should post things like "I'm looking for someone to ride with Sunday morning" on this blog?

Sure! Impromptu rides, regional races, charity rides, etc. I'm big on carpooling when possible.
